1.What’s your business? (In a nutshell)
Engyta™ is a brand of ARL Mobile Ltd that specializes in providing proximity mobile services for retail businesses and high street advertisers using WiFi, Bluetooth and NFC. This type of service is classified as B2B2C.
It has a number of bespoke technical developments in hardware, backend dashboards and data analysis to offer comprehensive additional metrics based information to our clients.
Engyta™ also works with existing vendors to market, refine and manage their products in the UK including interactive video screens, mobile charging and interactive paper displays.
2. Why did you choose MK? Skills and Location
MK is interesting due to the island nature of the town, the relatively youthful inhabitants and the broad cross section of retailers and public transport hubs.
MK is noted for its high tech industries, and superb education through OU, UoB etc.
3. What’s your interest in Big Data?
We are currently in a test and development phase, however our clients will be deploying many 10’s of thousands of interactivity points with millions of data interactions per day, and in the case of WiFi, 10s of thousands per minute. We need to be able to easily analyse this information in real time and historically to feed back to the clients the best and most efficient types of customer engagement, and to refine our service deployments. Big Data is also a prerequisite for combining multiple data channels for “liquid city” research into user dynamics throughout the day, weeks, months and years.
4. How can Big Data be instrumental in your expansion?
Without Big Data analysis our service will be severely constrained to simplified usage analysis reducing the effectiveness of our service and therefore client feedback.
5. How can UCMK support you? Service, consultancy etc
Big Data requires complex data feeds interfacing, algorithmic analysis, data visualization, report generation, mapping etc… UCMK can help engyta™ with its initial Big Data setup and iterative refinement of the services we wish to offer. To do this effectively we would benefit greatly with UoB talent to assist us.
6. What’s the best thing about being in MK for business?
Many high tech companies to interact with, a highly educated population, good travel links to north/south and east/west England and a capsule test environment. The grid layout of the city will also easily create interactive engagement opportunities for its citizens
7. How has your business developed? i.e. Staff numbers? Turnover
We started as one person in 2012, and now have a motivated group of full and part time talent from business development and product design, legal & commercial, hardware and software development and project management
We are involved in special projects such as the UK Home Office 3ES mobile replacement programme (ESMCP) and a high street rollout of proximity services via street furniture real estate across UK and Europe.
